Accepting Applications for Spring 2023

The Law Offices of Tedone & Morton, P.C., founded by attorneys Cosmo Tedone and Barbara Morton, provides each of its clients with personal attention and vigorous advocacy. The legal team has over 100 years of combined experience and makes it their mission to achieve their clients’ objectives as effectively and efficiently as possible.

Cosmo and Barbara personally understand the life-changing effects a battle with cancer can have on an individual and their family. The team appreciates the resilience and strength cancer patients, survivors, and their families display during such a challenge. They hope to extend this appreciation through their Cancer Survivorship Scholarship. Each semester, the Law Offices of Tedone & Morton, P.C. offers college students the opportunity to receive $1,000 in funding toward their college education.

Criteria for Applicants

To be eligible for our Cancer Survivor Scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

The applicant has a loved one who has previously battled or is currently battling cancer OR the applicant is currently battling or has previously battled cancer themselves.

The applicant will be attending an accredited college or university within the United States during the Spring 2023 academic semester.

The applicant is at least 17 years of age.


Application Requirements

The Cancer Survivorship Scholarships requires that students submit an original essay of 1,000-1,500 words, answering one of the following prompts:


During your or your loved one’s battle with cancer, have you discovered unexpected courage in yourself that you did not know you had? Has someone else in your life inspired you with their courage? How has this affected how you expect to approach adversity in your life?


How has a battle against cancer (either your own or a loved one’s) affected your life and future goals? How has this experience led you to reassess what matters most to you?

We also ask all applicants to submit their contact information, proof of eligibility, and a professional headshot.

Evaluating Applications

When reviewing applications, we consider the following criteria:

The applicant meets all eligibility requirements and entirely completed their application
The essay answers the prompt clearly and completely with original content
The student’s writing is professional, well organized, and expressive
We will announce our scholarship recipient by March 31, 2023.

Emma Lande

Emma Lande: Fall 2022 Award Recipient

This fall, the Law Offices of Tedone & Morton are pleased to announce that Emma Lande has been selected as the winner of the firm’s $1000 Cancer Survivorship Scholarship. Emma is pursuing her graduate degree at A.T. Still University of Health Sciences. She hopes to use her education to become an occupational therapist.
