Anthony Tomkiewicz

Anthony Tomkiewicz

Anthony began his Legal Career in 1997, While still in law school, assisting with the defense of clients in the Chicago- Kent Criminal Defense Clinic. From there, he interned as a Rule 711 Clerk with the City of Chicago Law Department, Municipal Prosecutions Division, where he prosecuted administrative hearings for violations of the Chicago Municipal Code, prosecuted cases under the City Employee Scofflaw Wage Garnishment Program, and assisted with Prosecutions and Appeals before the Local Liquor Control Commission and Appeals Commission.

In July of 1999, just 2 months after graduating Law School and just 1 week after passing the Bar Exam and being sworn in as a licensed attorney, Anthony was hired by the Livingston County State's Attorney's Office, to manage its Criminal Misdemeanor, Traffic and DUI calls. 1 week after being hired, Anthony 1st chaired his first Felony Jury Trial, for Aggravated DUI, which he won. Most of Anthony's peers would not 1st chair, or even assist as a 2nd chair or even 3rd chair in any Jury Trial, Bench Trial or hearing of any kind, including traffic, misdemeanor or even juvenile, and most would not even set foot in a felony courtroom, until several years into their careers. From there, over the next 2 years, Anthony was able to turn around a once losing trial percentage for the County into a high winning percentage. Anthony next took his winning trial experience to the McLean County State's Attorney's Office where he continued to 1st chair and win trials in that Office's Felony Division.

In the Summer of 2002 and ever since Anthony left prosecution and began representing private individuals and organizations mostly in criminal defense and personal injury. He has continued his high win percentage and has been known to take a high percentage of cases to trial, particularly in criminal and traffic cases where he has taken to Jury a wide range of cases, from simple speeding and petty offenses to class X felonies like First Degree Murder. Anthony has been described as having an out-of-the-box type of analysis of cases, seeing angles and defenses when his colleagues and other attorneys and even judges first thought cases were unwinnable. Jurors and clients have commented that Anthony has a very likable and social style that wins them over, where he simplifies things to the level of a casual conversation, yet fiercely drives home important points in a common sense-like fashion. Anthony's style has been used to secure civil judgments and awards as high as $1.3 million, and criminal Not Guilty verdicts and Dismissals in cases that others thought could not be won.
