Cynthia Petersen

Cynthia Petersen

Cynthia Petersen received her B.A. from Northwestern College, Orange City, Iowa, majoring in English and History, with additional classes and training in art and drama. After college, she worked in the customer service industry, moving to Illinois in 1989, where she was employed by a major benefit consulting firm in Lincolnshire. She became interested in the legal field after learning the ins and outs of retirement plans and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) guidelines and regulations surrounding these plans.

Cynthia graduated with honors from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 1997, after which she worked as an associate practicing in the area of family law. From March 1, 2004 until she joined Tedone & Morton, P.C., she was a sole practitioner, continuing to concentrate her practice in family law cases. In addition, she has assisted many attorneys and their clients with the division of various retirement plans in divorces, and is familiar with QDROs, QILDROs and other retirement plan orders.

Having over 20 years of experience in the practice of family law, Cynthia has won many custody battles, has successfully negotiated settlements for her clients and has always litigated passionately for her clients. In addition, Cynthia is on the Guardian ad Litem list for Will County, representing the rights of children in divorces and custody matters.
